David Bienick

Reporter

David Bienick is a reporter for WCVB Channel 5's award winning NewsCenter 5 team.

Prior to WCVB, David reported at Hearst Television and NBC affiliate KCRA-TV in Sacramento, California for sixteen years. During his extensive career at KCRA, he covered many high-profile stories including reporting from Boston on the manhunt for the Boston marathon bombing suspects. While covering this story, David had firsthand experience reporting with the NewsCenter5 team from the stand-off in Watertown.

David has a breadth of experience with more than twenty years of journalism under his belt. These many years of involvement have provided him with a range of stories that he has broken and covered. While at KCRA, David reported on everything from Arnold Schwarzenegger's election as governor, to hurricanes and wildfires, to the U.S. Supreme Court arguments on same-sex marriage. Before reporting for the NBC affiliate, he was an anchor and reporter in Burlington, VT/Plattsburgh, NY at WPTZ. Here, he had even more experience with the WCVB team, working with EyeOpener meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbons. AT WPTZ, he covered a wide range of stories including Quebec's separation referendum and Hillary Clinton's campaign for U.S. Senate.

David is an upstate New York native and graduated from Syracuse University with a BS degree in broadcast journalism, international relations, and French. He continued his education with a Master’s degree from Université Robert Schuman in Strasbourg, France and speaks fluent French.

David’s other interests include staying active by biking, running, swimming and weight lifting. He also enjoys spending family time with his wife and twin sons.
