Sharman Sacchetti

Political Reporter and Co-Host of WCVB’s “On The Record”

Emmy award-winning journalist Sharman Sacchetti is WCVB NewsCenter 5’s political reporter and co-host of WCVB’s “On The Record” since January 2023, along with Ed Harding. OTR is a weekly roundtable discussion of Massachusetts politics which airs on Sunday mornings at 11AM. Sharman has been a reporter in Boston for nearly two decades and has covered many major political stories and their impact on viewers.

Throughout her career, Sharman has covered several U.S. presidential elections including coverage of the 2020, 2016 and 2012 races, as well as numerous political conventions and New Hampshire primaries. She also reported on the U.S. Senate race that saw a republican claim the seat left vacant after the passing of U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, the subsequent election of U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, and the first open Boston Mayor’s seat in decades.

Sharman has an impressive track record of breaking news and obtaining exclusive interviews. She was the first Boston television reporter to speak one-on-one with President Joe Biden during his run for the office in 2020. She obtained an exclusive copy of the House bill to regulate marijuana sales in Massachusetts, and she was the first reporter to obtain the resignation letter of former Massachusetts Senate President, Stanley Rosenberg. Additionally, she was the first reporter to learn that Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker would institute a four-month long ban on vaping.

Sharman began her broadcast career at WCCM-AM radio in Lawrence. She made her move to television at WHDH-TV working as a writer. She later became the main anchor at WETM-TV in Elmira, New York, and a reporter and morning anchor at WTEN-TV in Albany, New York. Sharman returned to Boston in 2004 and has spent the last eighteen years as a political reporter, first at WFXT-TV and later at WHDH-TV.

Sharman is a graduate of Emerson College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and a concentration in broadcast journalism. She lives in the Greater Boston area with her husband, Scott.
