Peter Eliopoulos is a reporter for WCVB Channel 5's award-winning NewsCenter 5 team. He joined the station in 2018 and is the recipient of 5 regional Emmy awards. In his time at WCVB, Peter has covered civil unrest in the wake of George Floyd’s killing, the migrant crisis on Martha’s Vineyard, and the Apple Store crash in Hingham which left dozens injured.

Peter joined WCVB from NEWS10ABC in Albany, New York where he served as a reporter since October 2018. While at NEWS10, he covered major stories including the aftermath of a devastating limo crash that resulted in 20 fatalities -- one of the deadliest transportation tragedies in U.S. history, the MyPayrollHR sudden closure leaving thousands across the country without their paychecks, and several issues at New York’s capital with impact across the entire state. Prior to NEWS10, Peter was a reporter for KFDM News in Beaumont, Texas where his reporting covered everything from Hurricane Harvey to the election of the first African American female sheriff in state history.

Peter is a native of Ipswich, Massachusetts with deep local ties, and a diehard Boston sports fan. Peter knew he wanted to be a journalist ever since he was a kid in elementary school. After a local meteorologist visited his classroom and talked about both weather and news, it was Peter’s lifelong goal to become a reporter.

Peter earned a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland and graduated in 2016. Throughout college, Peter held internships at The Fox News Channel Washington D.C. bureau, WJLA in Washington D.C. and WHDH in Boston

Peter is a proud Greek American and tries to visit his family home in Greece as much as possible. In his spare time, Peter enjoys spending time with friends and family at the beach, on the boat, or pretty much anywhere outdoors. In the winter, Peter enjoys skiing and snowboarding in the mountains of New England.
