Proclamation issued ahead of his Patriots Hall of Fame induction
Ahead of Tom Brady's induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame on Wednesday night, the governor has issued a proclamation honoring the former quarterback.
That's right. After all the wins, celebrations and memories, it's officially Tom Brady Day in Massachusetts.
Gov. Maura Healey's proclamation honors many of Brady's NFL career highlights, including his seven Super Bowl rings, 17 division titles and 649 touchdown passes.
"Massachusetts celebrates Tom Brady for his profound dedication to the sport of football, making countless memories while inspiring millions across the country," the proclamation reads.
Brady will become the 35th person to be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame on Wednesday night, and, for the first time, an induction ceremony will be held inside Gillette Stadium to accommodate as many fans as possible.
The Patriots chose to honor Brady on June 12 — the 12th day of the sixth month of the year — as a tribute to the legendary quarterback's jersey number, 12, and the six Super Bowl championships he won with New England.
Hundreds who have played for the Patriots will be in attendance, according to the team, with on-stage appearances by many of Brady's former teammates, including Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Wes Welker, Randy Moss, James White, Deion Branch, Kevin Faulk, Drew Bledsoe, Matthew Slater, Vince Wilfork, Ty Law, Willie McGinest, Devin McCourty, Brian Hoyer, Matt Cassel, Rob Ninkovich, David Andrews, Logan Mankins, Dan Koppen and Patrick Chung.
