Attention National Grid customers. Big changes coming to your utility bills
A change to the billing system is coming to National Grid customers.
National Grid is redesigning customers' gas bills, hoping to make it easier to read and understand how costs are broken down each month.
Customers will also receive a new 10-digit account number that will be found in the upper right-hand corner of the new bill and in customers' online profile.
Customers who pay through their bank's website, by check, through a third-party vendor or through the automated phone system will need the new number to do so.
To implement the changes, enrollment and unenrollment from paperless billing and DirectPay is currently suspended through next Monday.
The National Grid website will be unavailable starting May 22 through May 27.
The website will return to normal business operations displaying customers' new account number on May 28.
