MINCE WORDS AND SHAYNA ACTING U.S. ATTORNEY JOHN LEVI SAID IT WAS A VERY DIFFICULT SITUATION TO BE IN, BUT THE OFFICE HAS REBOUNDED SINCE THEN. RACHEL ROLLINS RESIGNED LAST MAY AFTER A SCATHING FEDERAL REPORT REVEALED SHE COMMITTED A BROAD ARRAY OF MISCONDUCT, INCLUDING TRYING TO INFLUENCE THE DA’S RACE IN BOSTON AND LYING UNDER OATH. WE CREATED AT A ROUNDTABLE WITH LOCAL REPORTERS TODAY, ACTING U.S. ATTORNEY JOSH LEVY WAS ASKED ABOUT THIS AND SAID, I WON’T SUGARCOAT THE EVENTS THAT HAPPENED. IT WAS A SIGNIFICANT BLOW TO THE OFFICE WHEN THOSE REPORTS CAME OUT. HE ADDED. THE TENURE OF THE FORMER U.S. ATTORNEY IS A SMALLER DOT IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR EVERY DAY. GOOD MORNING. PRESIDENT BIDEN NOMINATED LEVY TO SERVE IN THE U.S. ATTORNEY POSITION PERMANENTLY LAST FALL, BUT HE SAYS HIS NOMINATION AND SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE BEEN HELD UP BY THE REPUBLICAN SENATOR J.D. VANCE FROM OHIO. LEVY SAYS THE ACTING TITLE ISN’T STOPPING HIM FROM DOING WHAT HE WANTS TO DO, AS LEADER OF THE OFFICE. HIS TOP THREE PRIORITIES NOW KEEPING COMMUNITIES SAFE FROM GUNS, DRUGS AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. PROTECTING CHILDREN FROM SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AND TRAFFICKING, AND ADDRESSING HATE CRIMES AND PROTECTING CIVIL RIGHTS. HE SAYS BOSTON IS THE BUSIEST U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE IN THE NATION FOR PROSECUTING HUMAN TRAFFICKING CASES, WITH 19 CASES CURRENTLY UNDER INDICTMENT AND MANY OTHERS IN THE PIPELINE. AND LEVY WAS ASKED ABOUT REPORTS THE FEDERAL INVESTIGATION CONNECTED TO THE KAREN REED CASE. AND HE SAID THEY WON’T COMMENT

The acting U.S. attorney for Massachusetts called the scandal over prior federal prosecutor Rachael Rollins a "significant blow to the office" in comments he made to the local media Wednesday.Rollins resigned last May after a scathing federal report revealed she committed a broad array of misconduct, including trying to influence the DA's race in Boston and lying under oath.At a round table with local reporters Wednesday, current Acting U.S. Attorney Josh Levy, said, "I won't sugarcoat the events that happened. It was a significant blow to the office when those reports came out. The tenure of the former U.S. attorney is a smaller dot in the rearview mirror every day."President Joe Biden nominated Levy to serve in the U.S. attorney position permanently last fall, but Levy said his nomination and several others have been held up by Sen. J.D. Vance , R-Ohio.Levy said the acting title isn't stopping him from doing what he wants to do as the leader of the office. Levy said his top three priorities are keeping communities safe from guns, drugs and human trafficking; protecting children from sexual exploitation and trafficking; and addressing hate crimes and protecting civil rights.He also said Boston is the busiest U.S. Attorney's Office in the nation for prosecuting human trafficking cases, with 19 cases currently under indictment and many others in the pipeline.
