I PROBABLY HAVE, WHAT, 20 IN BOSTON SOUTH END. THE CO-OWNERS OF CROWN LEGENDS ARE TURNING THE HOTTEST TRENDS INTO EXCLUSIVE DESIGNS. THIS WAS INSPIRED BY THE WRESTLER STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN. THIS ONE’S JUST A CELTICS HAT THAT I DESIGNED. I DID A LITTLE BIT OF CORDUROY ON THE BRIM AND A LITTLE GOLD. THIS ONE RIGHT HERE IS INSPIRED BY POLO RALPH LAUREN CHILDHOOD FRIENDS MANNY GONZALEZ AND ALO BAGGIO OPENED THEIR BOUTIQUE HAT SHOP IN 2022 AFTER REALIZING BOSTON WAS MISSING OUT. WE RECENTLY WENT ON A TRIP TO NEW YORK AND WE SEEN ALL THESE HAT STORES AND WE SEEN THE VOID IN THE STATE FOR HAT STORES. THERE’S NOTHING LIKE THIS I’VE ALWAYS BEEN INTO. LIKE YOU KNOW, SNEAKERS, HATS SINCE HIGH SCHOOL. SO BEING IN THIS POSITION RIGHT HERE IS SURREAL. YOU KNOW, BEING ABLE TO DESIGN HATS IN THEIR STORE. THEY CARRY HATS. YOU’LL SEE ONLINE OR AT AN OFFICIAL TEAM SHOP. BUT WHAT SETS THEM APART IS THEIR CONTRACT WITH NEW ERA. IT ALLOWS THEM TO MAKE THEIR OWN STYLES THAT ARE ONLY FOUND AT CROWN LEGENDS. SO THIS IS THE INSPIRATION TO THE GAS TANK THAT’S OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY IN DORCHESTER. WHEN WE FIRST OPENED OUR DOORS, WE DIDN’T HAVE OUR DESIGNS IN YET. BY THE TIME THAT WE ACTUALLY DROPPED, WE WERE JUST IN SHOCK AT THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT WERE OUTSIDE CALLING HIM AT FIVE IN THE MORNING, TELLING HIM, CHECK OUT THE SECURITY CAMERAS. THERE’S PEOPLE CAMPING OUTSIDE. NO, LITERALLY. OH, BAGGIO AND GONZALEZ HAVE SOME STYLE RECOMMENDATIONS CURVE THE BRIM AND DON’T TUCK YOUR EARS INTO YOUR HAT. ONE PROBLEM SO CAN I TELL THE VIEWERS A SECRET? MY EARS REALLY STICK OUT, SO I STILL PUT MY EARS UNDER MY HAT. AND ONCE WE FOUND THE RIGHT FIT, THIS ONE I LOVE. IT WAS TIME TO GIVE THE BRIM THE PERFECT BEND. SO WE GO LIKE THIS. GIVE IT A STEAM, LOOSEN IT UP. IT HAS A CARDBOARD ON THE INSIDE, SO YOU JUST SOFTEN UP THE CARDBOARD. In Boston’s South End, the co-owners of Crown Legends are turning the hottest trends into exclusive designs. Childhood friends Manny Gonzalez and Al Objio opened their boutique hat shop in 2022, after realizing Boston was missing out. The owners saw that pent-up demand the day they opened their shop."I'm calling him at five in the morning telling him, check out the security cameras. There's people camping outside," says co-owner, Manny Gonzalez. In their store, they carry hats you’ll see online or at an official team shop. But what sets them apart is their contract with New Era. It allows them to design their own styles that can only be found at Crown Legends."I've always been into like, you know, sneakers, hats and stuff like that since high school," says co-owner Al Objio. "So just being in this position right here is surreal, you know, being able to design hats."
