AFTER THE B’S WERE ELIMINATED FROM THE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR, GENERAL MANAGER DON SWEENEY SAID THEY WOULD ONLY KEEP THE GOALIE TANDEM OF LINUS ULLMARK AND JEREMY SWAYMAN TOGETHER. IF THE MATH MADE SENSE. THE ASSUMPTION HERE IS THAT IT DID NOT MAKE SENSE. ULLMARK WAS TRADED FOR FORWARD MARK KASTELIC AND GOALTENDER JONAS KORPISALO, AS WELL AS A AS THE 25TH OVERALL PICK IN THIS WEEK’S NHL DRAFT. OTTAWA WILL ALSO PAY 25% OF KORPISALO SALARY, SO THE SENATORS WILL TAKE ON THE REMAINING YEAR OF OHLMARKS CONTRACT, AS WELL AS HIS $5 MILLION SALARY. The Boston Bruins have traded goaltender Linus Ullmark to another team within the Atlantic Division less than three years after signing him to a four-year, $20 million contract.The Bruins announced Monday night that they dealt Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators for forward Mark Kastelic, goaltender Joonas Korpisalo and the 25th overall pick in this year's NHL draft, which begins Friday.Ullmark, 30, started 39 of the Bruins' 82 regular-season games, while Jeremy Swayman started the remaining 43. Ullmark finished last season with a 22-10-7 record, a 2.57 goals against average and .915 save percentage. Swayman, meanwhile, had a 25-10-8 record with a 2.53 GAA and .916 save percentage.In the postseason, Swayman started 12 games, while Ullmark started just one. The two have become close friends since Ullmark signed with the Bruins in July 2021. After each Boston win, they had a tradition of giving each other a big bear hug.Kastelic, 25, has appeared in 144 career NHL games, all with the Senators, and has scored 14 goals and notched 11 assists.Korpisalo, 30, appeared in 55 games with Ottawa this last season, posting a 21-26-4 record with a 3.27 GAA and .890 save percentage. The Finland native signed a five-year, $20 million contract with the Senators last July.The Bruins announced the Senators will be paying 25% of Korpisalo's salary as part of the trade.
