LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro police arrested a woman in connection to a fatal shooting in south Louisville, just hours after it happened.

On Monday, police found a woman, now identified as Renata Veljacic, 29, of Louisville, dead in a parking lot in the 8000 block of Glimmer Way. Investigators were able to identify 32-year-old Stephanie Hill of Vine Grove, Kentucky as a suspect. Hill was found by officers at a Circle K on New Cut Road nine hours after Veljacic found shot.

An arrest citation said Hill admitted to shooting Veljacic before she ran from the scene, and then threw the gun away. Police said she also admitted to taking Veljacic’s phone after shooting her.

Hill told detectives that she tried to sleep in the woods afterward to try and avoid arrest, and tried to make phone calls to have someone pick her up. Detectives said Hill was in possession of heroin when they found her.

Hill appeared in court Tuesday morning and has been charged with murder, robbery, tampering with physical evidence and possession of heroin. Under a plea of not guilty, she was given a bond of $250,000.
