Name of motorcyclist killed in fiery crash in Newburg neighborhood released

A man is dead following a fiery crash in the Newburg neighborhood Wednesday night.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Jefferson County coroner has identified the man who was killed in a motorcycle crash in the Newburg neighborhood on June 19.

Police said 32-year-old William Burford Jr. was headed south on Preston Highway when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a car that was traveling north. The crash caused the car to catch fire. Louisville Fire and EMS were able to work quickly to extinguish the fire.

Burford died at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital and is expected to survive. No other cars were involved in the crash.

Police said Burford was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
