LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The name of a 25-year-old killed inside Game X Change on Dixie Highway has been released.

On June 29, police responded to a double shooting at a business in the 8800 block of Dixie Highway. Inside, they found 25-year-old Ronny Walker Jr. and another man shot. Walker died before he could be taken to the hospital.

Police said the other man was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. LMPD said all parties involved in the shooting have been accounted for.

The manager of the Game X Change told WAVE News that the shooting happened during an attempted robbery.

“We had two guys come in here both with guns trying to rob two of our employees that were up here [the counter], attempted to get into the safe,” he said. “A customer who was walking by came in, saw what was happening, and shot both of them.”

However, it’s not the first time this store has seen trouble.

A manager at another nearby business, who also declined to speak on camera over fear of losing his job, tells us GameXChange has been the target of robbery at least 4 times.

The evidence? The writing on the door: Guns, hoods, and gloves all banned inside the store.

And that same strip, he says Encore Vapes & Smokes has also been targeted 3 times and blames the repeated issues on a lack of a police presence.

LMPD Officials would not confirm the claims from the Game X Change manager but simply said in a statement the investigation remains open and active.

The manager said the employees involved weren’t hurt.
