President Joe Biden will speak with Democratic governors from across the country this week in the wake of growing concerns following his lackluster debate performance.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre confirmed prior reports that Biden would speak to Democratic governors during the press briefing Tuesday. Who will be in attendance and when the call will take place is still being hashed out, but Gov. J.B. Pritzker‘s (D-IL) campaign confirmed to NBC News that they had received word about a call taking place on Wednesday.

The confirmation that Biden plans to speak to the governors comes a day after Democratic governors rallied on a call themselves to discuss a path forward after Biden performed poorly in the first presidential debate of the 2024 cycle. There were reports that many had said they had not heard from the president, while some governors’ teams dispelled those claims as “lazy reporting.”
