Cache of stolen vehicles found in Jackson
Multiple law enforcement agencies recovered nine stolen vehicles in west Jackson and investigators are looking to recover more.
At about 11 a.m. Tuesday, an auto theft task force consisting of officers with the Jackson Police Department, Capitol police and Secret Service, found nine stolen vehicles at the Auto Plus Towing and Salvage Yard on Commerce Shield Drive. JPD special operations Capt. Warren Hull said the vehicles came from two areas in the state.
“While investigating that vehicle, they were able to locate several other vehicles that were reported stolen,” Hull said. “Right now, we have a total of nine reported stolen vehicles — two out of Brookhaven Police Department and the other seven are out of Jackson Police Department.”
The recovered vehicles were found a month after police found several other stolen vehicles in Jackson. Those vehicles were recovered in June in South Jackson by the Auto Theft Task Force.
“It is just an example of when agencies work together, we’re able to come up with (and find) such as these stolen vehicles here,” Hull said.
There have been no arrests, but the task force has identified a suspect they want to question.
