Owen Farrell branded his England team-mate a "soft p***k" after he dived like '"Lionel Messi".

Saracens faced Sale Sharks in the final round of the regular season at the StoneX Stadium, with the Manchester-based outfit securing a famous away victory against Farrell's Sarries.

In the midst of some afters following a scrum, Sale and England hooker Bevan Rodd was pushed by Sarries tight-head prop Christian Judge. Rodd dramatically fell to the ground.

Referee Luke Pearce wasn't being fooled that easily, and simply said: "Up you get."

It was at this point that Farrell approached Rodd and angrily shouted: "You soft p***k! That's pathetic Bevan. You diving git."

Pearce was quick to reassure Farrell that it was being taken care of: "Oi, Owen. I'm dealing with it. I don't need [gesturing towards Luke Cowan-Dickie] you in here, either .

"Bevan, I know he nudged you, but I'm not sure it needed a Lionel Messi dive, OK? Thanks."

Fans reacted to this moment in the replies section.

"He thought he was a soccer player for a second there, then Owen had to remind him he's a rugby player." said one.

"Good to see from Farrell - needs players calling out this b******t live." said another.

Despite their loss, Saracens qualified for the play-offs, and will face Northampton Saints in the semi-final at the end of this month.

It could be Farrell's last game for Saracens if they don't defeat Saints, having agreed a big deal to join Racing 92 next season.
