Wales football legend Gareth Bale was spotted at Wimbledon on Monday night, watching Novak Djokovic in action on Centre Court.

Djokovic was taking on Denmark's Holger Rune in a bid for his eighth title in SW19.

And Bale was among the famous faces in the crowd at the All England club, with the Serb racing into an early lead over his opponent.

In the build-up to the match in south west London, the camera panned from Djokovic's wife and family in the box to Bale, who was taking his seat before proceedings got under way.

"That's Gareth Bale!" said BBC presenter Clare Balding.

"Do you follow football?" she asked Nick Kyrgios, who was also on the broadcast. "Yes, he used to play for Tottenham," the Australian replied.

John McEnroe then divulged a meeting with the former Wales skipper - on the golf course.

"He's also a great golfer," the legendary Wimbledon champion said.

"Very good. Annoyingly good! I played with him at Augusta. He shot like a 72 or something!"

Bale retired from football last year and has been spending more time with his family, as well as on the golf course.

Bale and Djokovic have teamed up at charity golf events in the past and were both involved at the Ryder Cup celebrity All-Star match in Rome last year.
