'Trespass incident' causes major train delays across south Wales

The situation is improving with National Rail saying that trains may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 15 minutes whilst service recovers.

Addin: "We expect this to continue until 3pm."

A spokesperson from British Transport has given an update on the situation.

She said: "Officers were called to the line near Cardiff Central railway station at 12.31 today (5 July) to reports of a trespasser on the line. Officers attended and a man was taken to a place of safety."

National Rail says; "Trains are returning to normal between Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street / Ebbw Vale Town / Newport (South Wales) following a trespass incident near Cardiff Central."

Adding: "Trains may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 35 minutes whilst service recovers.

"We expect this to continue until 4pm."

Great Western Railway between Carmarthen / Swansea and London Paddington

Transport for Wales between between Milford Haven and Manchester Piccadilly, and between Llanelli / Cardiff Central and Holyhead, and between Maesteg and Gloucester / Cheltenham Spa, and between Cardiff Central and Treherbert / Ebbw Vale Town, and also between Bridgend / Barry Island and Rhymney, and between Penarth and Coryton / Caerphilly, and between Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare
