A section of the M4 in Carmarthenshire was shut in both directions due to a crash.

There was a heavy build-up of traffic after a collision on the westbound stretch of the motorway between Pont Abraham (junction 49) and Hendy (junction 48).

Meanwhile, the eastbound stretch was also closed due to an obstruction on the road, causing heavy traffic tailbacks on both sides of the M4.

All lanes were reopened by around 6.30pm, with traffic once again moving freely. Dyfed-Powys Police has not confirmed if anyone was injured in the collision.
