ST. ROSE, LA (WAFB) - A Baton Rouge man was killed Friday in a rear-end crash on Interstate 10, according to the Louisiana State Police.

At about 3:30 p.m., troopers responded to the crash involving four vehicles on Interstate 10 eastbound near milepost 217 in St. Charles Parish.

Stephen Blackwell, 27, of Baton Rouge died in the crash, police said.

Troopers said Luis Enrique Caballero, of Kenner, was driving in a 2012 Toyota Highlander and traveling eastbound in the left lane at a high rate of speed.

Traffic ahead of Caballero was slowing down because of congestion. Troopers said he crashed into the rear of a 2014 Dodge Ram. The impact pushed the truck into the rear of a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was being ridden by Blackwell.

Blackwell was ejected from the motorcycle, LSP said. The motorcycle was pushed forward into the rear of a 2016 Nissan Pickup. Blackwell was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, authorities said.

Blackwell died at the scene, according to the coroner's office.

Investigators said Caballero has moderate injuries and was transported to University Medical Center.

The other two drivers involved in the crash had no reported injuries.

Investigators said they do not suspect impairment to have been the cause of the crash.

Criminal charges are pending.
