Your Turn: City of St. George

This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Melissa Normand. She's one of many people engaged in the ongoing debate over the proposed city of St. George on our Facebook page.

This week the Baton Rouge Metro Council approved another round of annexations, which angered St. George supporters. Normand defended the council's actions.

In her words: So if Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden and his team are the problem, why not vote them out? Instead you all would rather destroy an already failing city instead of actually fixing it. Our schools can improve, by way of hiring qualified teachers and making the parents be accountable. It's not all the schools fault if the parents or guardians are not present. Kids are failing because the parents do not want to do anything about it. These are the same kids who fight, spit and cuss their teachers.
