Your Turn: Common Core

This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Sherrye Ginn.

Ginn and hundreds of other people commented on our Facebook page about the Common Core education issue. Most of the people who took the time to comment opposed our point of view, including Ginn who is a school teacher.

In her words: My third grade students are bright, intelligent kids, but to ask them to write way above their developmental level is simply unfair and cruel. The politicians need to direct their political agenda in a different direction, not at our kids. The so-called educators need to go back into the classroom and see what education is really about, and we, the teachers, the real educators, the ones in the classrooms with the crying, vomiting kids, and stressed out children need to be allowed to do what we do best -- teach.

That's Sherrye Ginn's turn. Now it's your turn. Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
