BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - All too often now, it seems as if we over use the word "hero." We apply the term to describe people who have done good things, but possibly not to the level of heroism.

This weekend though, we did have a hero amongst us. Scott Quinlain was in the right place at the right time, boating in the Atchafalaya Basin when a woman crashed her vehicle off of the bridge into the water, where it landed upside down and partially submerged. There were seven people in that truck and Quinlain was able to help save five of them. He rushed to their aid, putting himself at risk in the process.

Like many actual heroes, Quinlain balked at accepting that title. Instead, he gave the credit to God for putting him at that place at that time.

From time to time, some of us wonder, what positive difference do we make in the lives of those around us? After Friday night, Scott Quinlain does not have to wonder.

That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
