Your Turn: Classrooms of Fear

The 9 News I-Team investigation, "Classrooms of Fear," has generated a lot of reaction on our Facebook page from parents and teachers.

Our Kiran Chawla this week introduced us to more East Baton Rouge teachers who say they're quitting because of discipline problems in their classrooms.

This week's "Your Turn" comment comes from a parent, Kawanda Raby, who pulled her kids out of public schools.

In her words: It's about time. This investigation will bring change within this school system. Before sending my two youngest children to private school, I went and sat in the classroom. In a class of 15, seven of the kids had behavior problems. The teacher did more discipline than teaching. She had to interrupt her lesson every two minutes to correct someone. My question was, how will a good student ever learn with all of those interruptions? I think it is unfair that kids are forced to accept such a poor quality of education.

That's Kawanda Raby's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
