BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - You know that expression, "Go big or go home."

That seems to be the motto of Louisiana State Senator Yvonne Dorsey-Colomb of Baton Rouge. According to recent campaign filings, Dorsey-Colomb took more than $26,000 in excess contributions back in 2011.

Unlike other candidates who returned the illegal donations, Dorsey-Colomb had not, as of the end of last year, and she's been mum about the matter so far this year.

Rather than comply with the law, she's all about changing it.

Dorsey-Colomb has sponsored a new law that would increase the amount of money that politicians would be allowed to accept from PACs going forward. If there's anything we know, the answer is not in providing our politicians with access to bigger amounts of cash.

In any event, Senator Dorsey-Colomb would have more credibility on this issue if she complied with the law she's trying to change.

That's "Our Turn." Now, it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, visit us on Facebook or send an email to yourturn@wafb.com.
