BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana’s Department of Children and Family services is investigating why the state’s hotlines are currently offline on Tuesday, July 8.

The Supplemental Nutrition Program (SNAP) LAHelpU, and Child Support services are also offline, officials reported.

A DCFS spokesperson says the agency is working with its vendors to assess the issue and get the hotline up and running again. Reports of neglect or abuse should be directed to law enforcement in the meantime.

“The safety of children is very important to us. If there is a life-threatening emergency, please contact the local law enforcement agency. Mandatory reporters are asked to enter non-urgent reports of abuse and/or neglect through the mandatory reporter portal,” explained Heidi Rogers Kinchen, the press secretary for DCFS.

It was not immediately clear when the issue was discovered or how long the hotline has been offline.
