Gypsy Rose Blanchard expecting first child
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Gypsy Rose Blanchard is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Ken Urker.
She shared the news on her social media accounts on Tuesday, July 9. In the video, she said she is 11 weeks pregnant and expecting to deliver in January 2025.
“This was not planned at all, it was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood,” she said.
Blanchard, a Golden Meadow native, is known for conspiring to kill her mother Dee Dee, who subjected her to nearly two decades of medical abuse commonly referred to as Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Dee Dee falsely claimed that Gypsy suffered from various serious health issues, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and severe asthma. She convinced medical professionals to perform unnecessary surgeries and treatments on Gypsy, and confined her to a wheelchair, even though Gypsy was capable of walking. Dee Dee manipulated not only medical staff but also charities, gaining sympathy and financial support.
In 2015, Gypsy, with the help of her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn, orchestrated the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard. Gypsy later explained that this extreme action was a desperate attempt to escape her mother’s control and abuse.

“All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby,” she says while wiping her tears. “I am a mother now, I am happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.”
Blanchard and Urker began writing to each other, according to People. While incarcerated, she married Ryan Anderson. The two divorced in April, shortly after her release from prison in December 2023.
