BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Capital Area Transit System (CATS) held a groundbreaking ceremony at its new North Transit Center on Tuesday, July 9.

The ceremony was held at 5275 Airline Hwy. around 9 a.m.

“The North Transit Center represents our ongoing commitment to modernizing and enhancing public transit in Baton Rouge,” said Theo Richards, CEO of CATS.

According to officials, the transit center is designed to serve as a hub for multiple bus routes, featuring amenities and real-time bus tracking capabilities.

CATS recently launched a new bus tracking app called MyStop, which helps local residents transform their commuting experience, officials added.

“This new facility will play a crucial role in improving connectivity, reducing wait times, and providing a more comfortable experience for our passengers,” said Richards.
