EBR School System, City of St. George set for 2 big events Monday

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Mark your calendars for two notable events in East Baton Rouge Parish on Monday, July 8.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s search for a new superintendent is in its final stages, as just two finalists remain. The finalists are Andrea Zayas and Kevin George. Krish Mohip was a finalist before dropping out of the race on Saturday to reportedly take another job.

Interviews will begin at 10:30 am at the Professional Development Center, followed by a public meet and greet beginning at 4:30 p.m. The school board will meet once more before announcing the new superintendent on Thursday, July 11.

The meeting is happening on Monday, July 8, at City Hall on Airline Highway.

In the city of St. George, a special meeting will be held Monday evening at the St. George City Hall on Airline Highway, regarding the selection of a few new business items. These include the selection of a demographer to create council districts as well as electing two percent sales and use tax for general municipal services. Additionally, a planning, zoning, and board of adjustments commission is being created.

These ordinances will be introduced to the public in a hearing scheduled for July 15.
