Workers remember Thomas-Morris for her unforgettable, infectious smile and laughter that filled every corner of the store.
They say she worked as a head cook in the deli for over a decade. During that time, she inspired others by bravely fighting breast cancer and brought joy to others through her cooking, they recalled.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office charged Sean Morris, 50, for her death. Deputies said an argument got out of control at a home on Garcon Road in Gonzales and Morris fired a gun.
He was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Judge Steven Tureau set bond for Morris at $2.1 million. Morris remains in the Ascension Parish jail as he awaits arraignment.
