Woman accused in murder-suicide; 8-year-old among 3 dead

ALBANY, La. (WAFB) - Deputies said a wife shot and killed her husband along with an 8-year-old before turning the gun on herself.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard gave an update on the apparent murder/suicide during a news conference Monday afternoon, July 1.

According to Sheriff Ard, investigators believe the incident happened late Friday night or early Saturday morning at a home on West Bates Road near Albany. While the home has a Hammond, LA address, it is located on West Bates Road inside Livingston Parish.

Deputies identified the wife as Jenny Williamson and the husband as Steven Williamson. Both were 49 years old. The child was living in the home where the apparent murder/suicide happened, the sheriff said. Their bodies were discovered Monday morning, July 1.

Investigators learned about the situation after a family member reached out to them. Sheriff Ard said the family member was having trouble getting in touch with the husband and wife.

Deputies said the apparent murder/suicide was not random, and the situation is contained and confined. No violent crime calls have been received from the home in the past.

The investigation is ongoing.
