BRPD: Man killed in early morning shooting

The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a man dead early Monday morning, July 1.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a man dead early Monday morning, July 1.

Police identified the victim as Byron Irving, 36.

According to BRPD, the shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. on N. Donmoor Avenue near Goya Avenue.

A relative called emergency officials for help, and gunshots reportedly rang out moments prior to officers’ arrival, according to police.

Police said Irving was found with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene, where he was pronounced dead.

The motive and suspect are unknown at this time.
