GREENSBURG, La. (WAFB) - The St. Helena Hawks pieced together a solid 2023 season, right about at .500, and a playoff appearance, but an early exit in the first round at the hands of Port Allen.

A big point of improvement heading into 2024 is the offense. St. Helena hoping to tinker with the philosophy to help with some challenges that logistics pose. That includes snap counts, roster size, and things like that, but with a decent amount of returning production including quarterback Adderion Baker and a bunch of 7-on-7 work. The Hawks feel confident that the improvements will be noticeable this fall.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Hawks went 12-4 and made a deep run in the state playoffs. Rising senior Willie Martin Jr. was an 8th grader during that successful season and was actually on the team as a special teamer. Now a few years later he’s hoping to channel some of that big-time winning to this 2024 team which he figures to be a key part of.
