BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Looking for a fun way to celebrate Independence Day? There are several events and fireworks shows happening in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas on July Fourth and the days leading up to it.

Wednesday, July 3

Fireworks on the River: The City of Donaldsonville is hosting its 4th of July celebration on Wednesday, July 3. It’s happening from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Crescent Park on Mississippi Street in Donaldsonville. There will be food, fun, and entertainment for all ages, including live music by the Michael Foster Project.
Kenilworth Independence Day Parade: The Kenilworth Civic Association is hosting the 52nd Kenilworth Independence Day Parade on Wednesday, July 3. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Kenilworth subdivision.

Fred’s 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza: Fred’s on the River is hosting its 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza on Wednesday, July 3. The event is happening at 18152 Rushing Road in Prairieville. The fireworks show starts at 9 p.m. followed by the sounds of DJ Atomic and DJ Bullet.

Thursday, July 4

July 4th Fest: West Baton Rouge Parks and Recreation and the City of Port Allen are teaming up to host the July 4th Fest. The free family-friendly starts on July 4 at 5 p.m. on the levee in downtown Port Allen with fireworks at 9 p.m. There will be food, water slides, space walks, face painting, and a magic show. Live music will be performed by Rockin’ Mozart School of Music Youth Bands and Foret Tradition.

GEAUX 4TH: Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome and Geaux Ride are teaming up to host Geaux 4th, free 20-minute bicycle tours of downtown Baton Rouge during the annual fireworks show over the Mississippi River. The Summer of Hope event will take place on Thursday, July 4th from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. in downtown Baton Rouge at Geaux Ride’s glow-in-the-dark boutique.

Fourth of July Celebrations at False River: The City of New Roads is hosting a celebration on Thursday, July 4, from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Morrison Parkway. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. There will be food, drinks, a boat parade, a golf cart parade, and live music by Total Control Band.
July 4th Hometown Celebration: The City of Plaquemine is hosting its 23rd annual July 4th Hometown Celebration on Thursday, July 4. The family-friendly event starts at 5 p.m. at the Plaquemine Community Center and Pavilion at 57845 Foundry Street. There will be food, over 30 craft booths, free rides for the kids, games, dancing, a boat parade honoring veterans, a veterans ceremony, and a Jitter Bug dance contest. The Justin Cornett Band will provide live music. There will also be a fireworks display and patriotic music starts at 9 p.m.

The event will take place at the Plaquemine Community Center & Pavilion on July 4.

Patriot’s Boat Parade: The Baton Rouge Boat Club is hosting a 4th of July Patriot’s Boat Parade. The event starts at noon at Fred’s in Port Vincent, proceeding to the Diversion Canal, and ending at Blind River Bar around 1:30 pm.
4th of July Celebration Kickball Tournament: The Town of Livingston is hosting its 4th annual 4th of July Celebration Kickball Tournament. We will be releasing the bracket tomorrow so be on the lookout. The event starts at 5 p.m. at Johnny Sartwell Park, located at 29405 S. Range Road. There will be a live band, jambalaya cookoff, watermelon eating contest, water balloon toss, free food, and fireworks.
Independence Day Concert: The Baton Rouge Concert Band iwill have a patriotic performance at the Main Library at Goodwood on Thursday, July 4, at 7 p.m. Celebrate America’s independence with composers like John Philip Sousa, Irving Berlin, and Morton Gould.
L’Auberge Baton Rouge Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza: The L’Auberge Casino and Hotel Baton Rouge is hosting a Fourth of July fireworks lawn party starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. The fireworks show begins at 9 p.m. over the Mississippi River. Bring a blanket and enjoy the family-friending evening on the lawn. There will be food trucks.
Red White and Blues: A 4th of July Fest: The Baton Rouge Blues Festival & Foundation presents a new, free July 4th festival in downtown Baton Rouge’s Rhorer Plaza. The family-friendly event will be at 6 p.m. and features The Chris Leblanc Band as well as multiple food vendors.
