Man accused of choking 1-year-old daughter, beating elderly uncle is brother of escaped inmate, source says
AMITE, La. (WVUE) - The man accused of choking his 1-year-old daughter and beating his elderly uncle is the brother of an escaped inmate who has been on the run since the Memorial Day weekend, a source tells Fox 8.
Damonte Allen, 23, was booked into jail on two counts of attempted first-degree murder after police in Amite found an unresponsive elderly man in a home in the 300 block of Gullett Street. Police say Allen emerged from inside the home with his hands tightly around the 1-year-old’s neck.
Police reportedly tased Allen multiple times, freed the child, and performed CPR to revive the child, who is now in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
Allen is the brother of Jamarcus Cyprian, one of four inmates who escaped the Tangipahoa Parish jail over the Memorial Day weekend, according to a source. Cyprian is the only one of the four who remains at-large. The other three have since been recaptured.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to Cyprian’s arrest.
