A Mississippi man is facing charges in Ascension Parish after a K-9 unit allegedly found $44,000 worth of cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.(Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office)

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A Mississippi man is facing charges in Ascension Parish after a K-9 unit allegedly found $44,000 worth of cocaine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Binh Truong, 52, of Biloxi, was arrested on Monday, June 17, and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on the charge of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Sheriff Bobby Webre said deputies found two kilograms of cocaine in the vehicle Truong was driving when they stopped him while traveling along I-10 near Sorrento.

The cocaine had with a street value of approximately $44,000, according to the sheriff’s office.
