APSO: Woman arrested following deadly shooting in Darrow

A woman has been arrested following a deadly shooting in Darrow Saturday night, June 15, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

DARROW, La. (WAFB) - A woman has been arrested following a deadly shooting in Darrow Saturday night, June 15, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, Kendra Washington, 52, of Darrow, is charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons.

Deputies said they responded to the scene of the shooting on Highway 75 around 11 p.m. When they arrived, they found the victim, Mark Perkins, 45, of Darrow, with a gunshot wound.

The victim was rushed to a hospital and was later pronounced dead.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the suspect and victim were involved in a relationship. Washington initially denied firing the shot that killed Perkins but later admitted to the crime, deputies said. They added that Washington says she was in an argument with the suspect that turned physical before the shooting.

Washington was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing.
