During his initial appearance in court on May 23, 2024, a judge allowed Verdun to be released without posting bail after federal prosecutors said they did not want for him to be detained.

The arrest warrant, signed May 16, 2024, includes six images that federal authorities say show Verdun at the U.S. Capitol that day.

In January 2021, the United States Capitol building was attacked by supporters of Donald Trump following his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. Many in attendance sought to occupy the Capitol to try to block Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s victory.

FBI agents have been combing through cell phone videos, videos posted to social media and surveillance footage from that day as they try identify the people who took part.

According to his arrest warrant, Verdun was identified as “an individual who entered the U.S. Capitol during the ongoing riot on January 6, 2021.”
