Baton Rouge plastic surgeon Dr. Lucius “Tre” Doucet was the pilot of the plane that crashed in Tennessee yesterday, killing all three people on board, colleagues confirmed.

Authorities in Franklin, Tennessee say a resident called 911 at 12:05 p.m. to report a “possible plane crash” south of Interstate 840 in Williamson County. That is about 35 minutes south of Nashville.

The plane appears to have broken apart in the air, leaving behind a nearly ½ mile long debris field, investigators said.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the plane was a single-engine Beechcraft V35.

The FAA did not immediately identify the tail number of the plane or its registered owner.

Nashville television station WTVF reports audio reveals an air traffic controller speaking to someone on the plane about options to land “16 miles north” of its current location. However, the plane eventually headed south. “It sounds like contact lost,” a control tower employee is later heard saying after trying to contact the aircraft again.
