ARLINGTON, Tx. (WVUE) - Former LSU star and National Champion Angel Reese is set to make her WNBA debut Wednesday (May 15) for the Chicago Sky when her team tips off against the Wings in Dallas.

As the Sky aimed to revamp their roster this offseason, Reese, drafted seventh overall, is the second Top 10 pick the team took in the draft. Banking on the power of the SEC, the Sky drafted South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso at No. 3.

“This is a chess match,” coach Teresa Weatherspoon said. “And we actually got every player that we had designed to get. This is (an) exciting moment for us, exciting moment for the city, and this is (an) exciting moment for the Chicago Sky organization.”

Chicago, which won the WNBA championship in 2021, is banking on the two to help lead the franchise back to the top after faltering to an 18-22 season last year.

However, due to a preseason shoulder injury, the Sky will be without Cardoso for 3 to 5 weeks.

The Wings also reloaded in the draft taking Ohio State guard Jacy Sheldon at No. 5 overall and guard Carla Leite at No. 9 out of France.

The Wings and Sky go head-to-head at 6 p.m.
