BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - You’re invited to a free health screening in Baton Rouge on Friday, May 10.

DaVita, the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana and ExxonMobil YMCA will host a free kidney health screening for the Baton Rouge community from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

It’s happening at the ExxonMobil YMCA located at 7717 Howell Blvd.

Organizers say the screening will help raise awareness of risk factors that may lead to chronic kidney disease (CKD), including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and a family history of kidney failure.

The free health screening includes:

  • A urine and blood test to get an in-depth measure of kidney function
  • A fingerstick glucose test to understand diabetes risk
  • A blood pressure reading for hypertension awareness
  • Body measurements such as height, weight, waist and body mass index (BMI)
  • Each screening is followed by a personal and confidential patient result review with doctors and qualified nurse practitioners
