DETROIT, Mi. (WAFB) - Former LSU and Walker High School wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. was selected No. 23 overall in the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Thomas made a huge jump statistically this past season with the Tigers, going from 361 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns in 2022, to 1,177 yards receiving and 17 TDs in 2023.

The 6′4, 205 pounder likewise didn’t hurt himself at the NFL combine, running a blazing 4.33 in the 40-yard dash.

Thomas was also a basketball star in high school, helping the Wildcats win a 5A state championship as a freshman in 2018 and was named the MVP in the win over Landry-Walker with 20 points and 8 rebounds. As a sophomore, he scored 29 points and had 8 rebounds in a loss to Thibodaux High School in the 2019 5A state championship.
