BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - LSU Gymnastics came home with a new title-- NCAA National Champions. Their first stop back in Louisiana was outside of their training center to address the fans at a homecoming celebration.

“I’m just truly honored for all the support you guys have given us, all year long,” said LSU Gymnast, Haleigh Bryant.

Many of the gymnasts took turns speaking to the fans, saying they were part of the reason they were able to secure this title.

“We just want to say thank you. Not just for the support today, but for the support all season and for me personally for five years,” said LSU Gymnast, Kiya Johnson.

Fans welcomed home the LSU Gymnastics National Champions during a ceremony and celebration Sunday afternoon.

Coach Jay Clark took the stage to speak about the win, adding, “I’ve been doing this for 34 years and I’ve been a part of a lot of championship teams, but this one is super special y’all, I’m telling you.”

Many of the fans that came out in support say they have followed this team the entire way. LSU junior, Keagan Simon says he is not surprised the girls secured this title.

“They work their tail ends off day in and day out. You can tell by going back and watching the meets on YouTube, their highlights, I’m happy that they are being rewarded.”

A parade to celebrate the national champions will be on Wednesday, April 24. More details are expected to come later.
