Senior Skip Day brings live music, health screenings, and over 50 vendors to River Center

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) announced its third annual Senior Skip Day and Healthcare Expo will be held on Wednesday, April 17 at the Raising Cane’s River Center in downtown Baton Rouge.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Council on Aging says it’s a chance for all seniors to “skip” a day at the senior center and come together to fellowship instead.

Senior Skip Day 3.0 is open to all seniors age 60 and older who live in East Baton Rouge Parish.

There will be live musical performances by Cupid, The Rusty Yates Band, and DJ Kick! There will be live entertainment, dozens of food vendors, cooking demonstrations, a fashion show, health screenings and vaccinations, and over 50 vendors offering valuable information on various senior services.

There will also be many opportunities to win amazing prizes.

Seniors are also encouraged to visit the immunization clinic for the following vaccinations:

  • COVID-19
  • Shingles
  • RSV
  • Flu
  • Pneumonia

To receive an immunization, seniors are asked to bring their insurance card, and driver’s license or ID.

The theme for Senior Skip Day 3.0 is Live, Learn, and Play.
