BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Southern baseball lived for the dramatics in their first two wins over Prairie View A&M.

On Friday night, the Jags popped a pair of two home runners in the same inning for a win.

Saturday was a back-and-forth contest before SU walked it off.

Sunday was a little different.

The weather and vibes were immaculate at Lee-Hines Stadium on Southern’s campus.

The Southern dugout even felt good enough to hold choir practice mid-game.

At the bottom of the first, the Jags were up one to zero with the bases loaded. Dominic Joseph tried to send a pop fly to the heavens.

The Panthers’ left fielder had a chance to get out of the inning. He tracked the ball but it touched Earth.

Southern scored two runs on the error, making the score 3-0.

Next at bat, more trouble for the away team. A wild pitch from Corery Battey makes Ryan Ollison say “I don’t mind if I do,” bringing the score to 4-0.

Southern finds themselves with the bases juiced again, adding insult to injury. Tyeler Hawkins slaps the ball into leftfield for a two-run single.

Six runs in the first inning for the blue and gold. They kept it going in the bottom second. Joseph’s two-run single begins a four-run inning.

Southern completed ten runs in two innings, finishing with a final score of 22-12.

The Jaguars are 6-1 in SWAC play.

Southern will be back in action Monday night when they travel across town to take on the defending national champions, the LSU Tigers.

The first pitch is slated at 6 p.m.
