BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - In response to the recent streak of violent crime in the Capital Area, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is preparing for this year’s Summer of Hope initiative, which focuses on fostering a safer community.

The mayor’s office is hosting a series of sessions next week, teaching community members and organizations how to write requests for proposals successfully.

Officials want to provide the necessary tools and knowledge to ask for grants or other aid to keep your community safe.

If you have an idea for a proposal that aligns with Summer of Hope’s mission, the workshop may help you turn that idea into a reality.
