BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - LSU women’s head basketball coach Kim Mulkey began her Saturday NCAA Tournament press conference on the offensive, making a lengthy and fiery statement towards The Washington Post and a specific writer concerning an upcoming feature on her. The article, needless to say, is not expected to be very flattering towards Mulkey.

Coach Kim Mulkey began her Saturday NCAA Tournament press conference on the offensive, making a lengthy and fiery statement towards The Washington Post.

LSU fans became aware of the impending piece Friday on a tweet by national sports writer Pat Forde:

Mulkey refers to the article as “a hit piece” that the reporter has been working on for two years and that she refused to participate in. Mulkey says she doesn’t hold the writer in high regard, particularly concerning an article he had written on LSU head football coach Brian Kelly in the past. Mulkey says the writer has made the effort to track down and interview many of her former players, in particular, those who were disgruntled and have negative things to say about the Hall of Fame coach.

Mulkey adds that she has hired powerful representation and will take legal action against The Washington Post if she feels necessary.
