Cribs and car seats workshop to provide baby essentials for expecting families

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Expecting parents and caregivers can receive free items for their infants during the “Cribs and Car Seats Workshop” on Friday, March 22.
It’s happening from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the St. George Fire Department. The address is 14100 Airline Highway.

The Safety Place, a non-profit organization in Baton Rouge, is teaming up with several other agencies and community groups to put on the event.
Organizers say to register, a caregiver must:
- Be pregnant/expecting/adopting/fostering/raising an infant.
- Be 4-6 weeks before the baby’s arrival, or currently raising an infant between the ages of birth through six months.
- Be low income or otherwise unable to afford earned baby items.
- Not have a crib or car seat for your child.
- Not received a free crib or car seat from The Safety Place in the last six years.
- Attend the entire workshop between 8:45 a.m. - 1 p.m., and correctly demonstrate the use of a crib and car seat.
- Arrange childcare. Children are not allowed to attend.
Participants can earn several items for completing the workshop:
- portable crib
- car seat
- soft chest carrier
- wipes
- diapers
- child wellness kit
