Just when Ellen Pompeo thinks she’s out… The Hollywood Reporter announced that Meredith Grey will continue popping in for select episodes of Grey’s Anatomy season 21. Pompeo technically left the show in February 2023, but even when she made the announcement, she said “I’ll definitely be back to visit.” And be back to visit she has! Pompeo appeared in 8 eps of season 19 and 4 of season 20 (which was shortened due to the Hollywood Strikes). Per THR, Meredith Grey’s face will appear in 7 episodes of season 21, and her voice will continue to be heard on every ep. Grey’s Anatomy will film after Pompeo’s Hulu show, Natalia, wraps. That limited series is part of Pompeo’s overall deal with Disney and is inspired by the true story of Natalia Grace.
