Serena Williams is pregnant! The tennis superstar shared her news via Snapchat, by posting an image of herself captioned, “20 weeks.” In the image, Williams is seen taking a selfie and posing in profile wearing a yellow one-piece swimsuit. Over the holidays, Williams became engaged to Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian. The news of the engagement, which was first shared on Reddit, took many by surprise. Soon after, Williams shared a date night picture of the couple on vacation, flashing her engagement ring in the process.
This year has already been filled with a momentous professional accomplishment for Williams. In January, Serena and her sister Venus Williams competed against each other in the finals of the Australian Open. Serena won the match, thereby setting a new record for the oldest female Grand Slam champion since the Opens began. Previously, Williams had held this title herself, thanks to her 2016 Wimbledon win. But by winning the Australian Open, Williams regained her ranking as the Women’s Tennis Association’s top player (she currently stands at #2). In any case, congratulations to the couple on their happy news! Between the Australian Open, her upcoming wedding, and her soon-to-be bundle of joy, it looks like it will be a Grand Slam year for Serena Williams.
