Virgil Abloh loves a theme, and so he christened his Fall 2018 collection West Village. Our advice? Don’t take it too literally. Somewhere in his seasonal mash-up was equestrian references (Abloh himself just bought a horse), a sprinkle of Carrie Bradshaw mixed with Carrie-Anne Moss, and a couple maybe unintentional references to the clueless-yet-posh Troop Beverly Hills. All this after a spoken word track of Susan Sontag discussing storytelling via imagery. Could you lose your head trying to parse out Abloh’s ideas? Surely. But instead of going mad for Off-White—as some fans did outside the show—we’d recommend letting Abloh and his cast of models, including Bella Hadid, Dilone, and Liya Kebede, do the talking.
