James Kaliardos masterminded the magical, gothic make-up look; creating dewy, pale skin by using different shades of NARS concealer to play up the tones of each model’s skin. Ethereal radiance pretty much sums up the effect.
For a gothic effect, Kaliardos added a dark lip, using NARS Train Bleu Velvet Matte Lip Pencil layered with Star Rockin’ Precision Lip Pencil and Liv Audacious Lipstick, and long, fan-like false lashes. “I start by drawing on the cupid’s bow, then draw a horizontal line at the bottom of the lip, making two dots on the sides of the mouth and connecting them – it helps balance out the lip, which is often asymmetrical. Hairstylist Odile Gilbert created a centre parting and “cool, imperfect waves” using a ghd Curve tool, before adding a half-up, half-down top knot in some of the models’ hair. “There were different coloured veils or flowers which relate to what the models are wearing,” she explained. “The veils are like nets and we weave the elastic through it, like a curtain pole through a curtain, and then pull the elastic tight once over the top knot. Then we tighten and tie the elastic, which gives the perfect shape to the netting over the hair and face.” A simple technique that still allowed the precise, dark lips and glowing skin to shine.
